Sparing at the club
Who can spare
Anyone! You don't even need prior curling experience (although if you don't have it, please show up a few minutes early so we can show you the basics of sliding down the ice). Already on a team, even in the same league? You can still sign up. Sparing is also one of the easiest ways to get more ice time and meet people from the other leagues.
How to sign up
Sign up to spare online. Sign in, or create an account, and add yourself to the spare list for the leagues and positions you can play.
Please note: when you sign up, your name appears on that league's spare list, which anyone can see online. Your phone number and email don't; only signed-in members can see those. We've asked the developers of our registration site to hide the names too, but it won't happen right away.
Before you play
The spare fee is $15 a game, paid at the bar or online. There's no fee if you're registered in the league you're sparing in.
If you haven't registered online, sign a waiver when you arrive at the club. A parent or guardian signs for curlers under 19.
Bring clean indoor shoes. The club has the rest of the gear.
If your team needs a spare
Pick your league above. You'll need to sign in to see the spares' phone numbers and emails. Ask early, the day before if you can. Tell your spare the start time and the position they'll play. And thank them. They gave up their evening so your team could play.
