President’s Update
October 30th, 2024
The ice is in! We have some more work to do.
Wednesday, Oct. 30th: Flood at 7:00 pm, Tom and Evan.
Thursday, Oct. 31st: We have a work party going at 9:00 am to clean the carpeted and concrete area in the ice shed. The center divider in the ice shed needs a wipe down, as does the blue plastic along sheet six. The lobby needs a vacuum in preparation for carpet cleaning Friday morning at 10:00, tables will need to be moved in preparation of this. The curling rocks need their handles tightened, at the 0 position. The rocks then need to be carried to the edge of the carpet, set on the mesh, lobby side to acclimate.
Flood in the morning with a second flood approximately 3 hours later, if necessary.
Ron will be scraping the ice on Friday and will need a couple of volunteers to assist. Preparing the hacks, cleaning snow, etc. Once Ron is happy with the ice, we will set the curling rocks on the mesh, on the ice for a further cool down.
Saturday, November 2nd: After the carpet areas in the lobby and lounge have been steam cleaned, we need to set the tables, chairs back in position. Ron will continue to work on the ice. Once he gives us the go, we need to place the rocks on the ice.
The ice will be ready after the weekend. Doubles, Corporate League, Men’s Night, Friday Fun Night all start up next week. You will be able to do your membership application and make payment (cash, cheque, debit, credit) next week. We would prefer all memberships to be paid before the end of November please. Next week will be practice week, the scores will not count towards league play. League play will begin Nov. 12th. If you need curlers, please contact Scott Martin at (250) 877-9720. League Coordinators are:
Tuesday Doubles League: Ron Vanderstar; Wednesday Corporate, Tom Cornwall;
Thursday Night Men’s: Scott Martin – with mentoring from Trevor Sandberg.;
Friday afternoon drop in: Anne Griffith; and Friday Fun Night, Jessie Koldyk.
Please pay attention to the bulletin board near the Men’s bathroom for sign-up sheets for upcoming events; assisting with on ice instruction, assisting in the lounge, etc.
